PUZZLE 1
There
were three travellers in Ancient Arabia who came to an
inn very tired and very hungry. They asked the innkeeper
for some food. The innkeeper said "You go and sit by
the fire and I'll fetch you some hot potatoes". The
three travellers sat by the fire and promptly fell asleep.
Meanwhile the innkeeper put a pile of potatoes on the
table. Traveller number one woke up and ate a third of
the potatoes and fell asleep again. Traveller number two
woke up and he ate a third of the potatoes that he found
on the table and fell asleep again. Traveller number
three did the same, leaving eight potatoes on the table.
